WILLIAM GIBSON COLLECTION
Buzz Rickson's first produced the Black MA-1 on the brand's 10th anniversary. In the novel "Pattern Recognition" by world-renowned novelist William Gibson, the protagonist wears a "Buzz Rickson's Black MA-1." The actual Buzz Rickson's Black MA-1 was born from that novel. Officially adopted by the U.S. Air Force in the 1950s, the standard color for the MA-1 was originally sage green. However, a truly authentic Black MA-1, crafted with military-grade parts and materials, based on military specifications, was unheard of. This has resulted in a positive response from authentic-looking users and has become a hot topic in the market. Even though each material is specified as black, the dyeing process varies depending on the material. When these materials are combined into a single jacket, subtle color differences become apparent, making it clear how many different materials a flight jacket is made up of.
The MA-1 is hailed as the pinnacle of flight jacket design. Only four companies produced the first model, one of which was Albert Turner. The lining of the front zipper features a meticulous zigzag stitch to secure the wool pile.
