ISHIKAWADAI
"Ishikawadai" is the oldest Japanese ring spinning machine currently in operation, manufactured by Ishikawa Seisakusho Co., Ltd. in 1953.
The manufacturer has no records, and it is thought to be the oldest spinning machine currently in operation in Japan. Compared to the latest ring spinning machines, the speed is about 1/3, and it can only spin at a slow speed, so productivity is not high. However, because it puts less strain on the cotton, it takes advantage of the cotton's natural soft texture and creates an uneven texture that looks like it was hand-spun, with a unique natural look that cannot be reproduced by a new machine.
The indigo dyeing of the warp threads does not damage the unique texture of this cotton, and the usual thread refining process is omitted, creating an uneven indigo dyeing like vintage denim of the time.
In order to reproduce the denim of 1953, all processes are intentionally carried out using low-tech methods.
